It’s Saturday morning here in Israel ~ Shabbat. The rain has taken a break so I ventured out for a walk along the Mediterranean Sea.
The sound of the waves crashing was powerful. As I continued along the boardwalk, I saw families, sisters, mothers and daughters, all talking as they walked. Now and then our eyes met for a smile. There were special moments along the way as I saw husband and wives holding each other, kissing, now and then as they took in the beauty of the sea and the sound of the waves. There were surfers, runners and bicyclists on this journey. All enjoying a Sabbath rest.
My thoughts wandered home, as a song entered my mind. Do you remember the great band Chicago? How about the song “Saturday in the Park”? There were parks along my walk and children playing. Yes Ice cream was available and music came from areas along the path.
Friends, when was the last time you visited the park to see people strolling, talking and loving? When was the last time you took a Saturday off, just to walk with your loved ones, read, take a nap?
This is a typical scene in Israel on Shabbat. It makes me realize how much we are missing in America!
Enjoy taking a walk along memory lane as you watch this Chicago video. One of my all-time favorite bands.
